Jennifer Aniston has begun preliminary discussions to join the Tri-Star adaptation of What Alice Forgot.
The Liane Moriarty best-selling novel’s rights were acquired by Tri-Star in July 2014. Originally, David Frankel – of The Devil Wears Prada fame – was attached to direct the film, but those plans fell through. Frankel had previously worked with Aniston in the 2008 comedy Marley and Me. The search for a new director continues, but with the possible addition of Aniston to the project, this must add some extra value to the job.
The novel focuses on Alice, a woman who suffers a head injury only to wake up believing she is her 25 year-old self. She soon discovers that her 40 year-old self is much different than the person she thought she would become.
The Friends star was most recently seen in Cake, a role for which many considered she deserved a Best Actress nomination. Prior to that, she reprised her role as Dr. Julia Harris in Horrible Bosses 2. Currently, she is filming multiple projects, including Mother’s Day and The Yellow Birds.
Shauna Cross (If I Stay) was brought on board to pen the script, with Kerry Kohanski-Roberts and Steve Golin producing the film. As soon as more information about the film is released, we’ll be sure to pass it along.
