Jean Smart to Star in New Drama ‘Miss Macy’

Emmy award-winning Jean Smart is set to star in new drama, Miss Macy, from director Tate Taylor (The HelpThe Girl on the Train). Smart is a film, and TV veteran actress, fresh off of her run as Agent Blake in the HBO hit series Watchmen

Her latest feature follows the life of Trisha Mitchell Coburn; a small-town girl turned big-time model. Trisha was discovered as a model during her days attending Miss Macy’s Charm school in Alabama. Smart will play Trisha’s mentor Miss Macy who plucks Trisha from her unhappy home life and helps transform her into a successful model. 

In addition to starring in the film, Smart will serve as an executive producer alongside Angeliki Giannakopoulos, Mitchell Coburn, and John Norris. While Denise Di Novi. Mitchell Coburn and John Norris will help produce the feature. 

Pulitzer Prize winner and Oscar nominee Beth Henley will write the script for the film. Henley is best known for her work on the plays Crimes of The Heart and Am I Blue
