‘Jaws’ Actress Lee Fierro Passes Away At 91 Due To COVID-19 Complications

More troubling news surfaces in Hollywood as actress Lee Fierro best known for portraying Mrs. Kintner in Steve Spielberg’s 1975 deep sea classic Jaws and its 1987 installment has passed away at 91 years old according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Fierro died after being diagnosed and fighting COVID-19. Kevin Ryan of Island Theatre Workshop broke the news. The workshop was where Fierro had worked for over 40 years, teaching over 1000 children during that time. Fierro endured a peacefully run as artistic director of the Island Theatre Workshop for 25 years and continued to mentor into her final years of life.

Ryan made the following statement about her legacy:

“The one word I would think of when I think of Lee is dedication. I’ve watched her as a performer, director and businesswoman, and then we became friends. She was my teacher and mentor … She was fiercely dedicated to the mission of teaching. She, no matter what it was, would stay at it and get the job done.”

Before her death, Fierro was residing at an assisted-living facility in Ohio. Fierro experienced a short-lived acting career holding few credits outside of the Jaws franchise. Fierro delivered an evoking scene in Jaws in which she slapped Chief Brody for the death of her son Alex.

According to Martha’s Vineyard Times, Fierro’s family will hold a small memorial in dedication to her given the COVID-19 restrictions. Fierro is survived by her five children, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
