Jason Statham To Star In David Ayer Thriller ‘John Doe’

Jason Statham is set to star in thriller John Doe, directed by David Ayer. The film will follow Statham as a character known simply as “The Man With No Name”, a man with no memory of his past who begins to recall that he was sent on a mission that is still ongoing, and the face of a woman named Eliza. As these details emerge, Statham’s “Man With No Name” must choose between pursuing this mission and the woman he loves.

The film will be Statham’s third collaboration with Ayer, following 2024’s The Beekeeper and last year’s A Working Man. The film is being written by Zak Penn, who previously co-wrote the screenplays for films like The Avengers, Ready Player One, and Free Guy.

Production and financing of John Doe is being handled by Miramax. Statham is producing the film through his production company Punch Palace Productions. Zak Penn is also producing, alongside Paul Schiff. Black Bear is handling domestic distribution of the film and will be shopping it out to potential international buyers at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Production on John Doe is expected to begin in September of this year. A release date isn’t currently known.
