Jason Blum Hopes To Get ‘Godzilla: Minus One’ Director Onboard A Blumhouse Project

Godzilla Minus One Director Takashi Yamazaki has grabbed the attention of Jason Blum, the main head at Blumhouse, as Blum said in Tokyo that the newest Godzilla film was his favorite of 2023.

According to CinemaToday.jp, Blum was in Japan to be at a screening of Five Nights At Freddy’s, one of the newest films to be under the Blumhouse banner. Although there was a screening in Tokyo and a talk with Blum, Freddy and his friends won’t be making their debuts in Japanese theaters until February 9th, 2024.

Linked by ComicBook.com, Godzill fan on X, formerly known as Twitter, posted Blum talking about Godzilla. At the end of the video Blum is heard saying that he is meeting with Yamazaki and can hopefully convince him to work on a Blumhouse project in the future.

Throughout the talk, Blum said that one of the reasons why Godzilla was his favorite film from last year is because it tries to achieve what Blumhouse pictures aim to do: to tell a “unique and compelling family drama story,” which is at the heart of every picture they make.

Blum mentioned how the relationship between the main man, woman and child is something he had never seen before. Because the relationship is so compelling, it makes the main antagonist, Godzilla, even scary, even though there have been 29 other movies surrounding the monster.

Blum was also impressed with the budget the Godzilla team worked with, only $10 million USD. He even admitted that the film made him jealous that Blumhouse didn’t make the film.

Besides the recent Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects, Yamazaki and the team continue to find more reasons to say that they have created a special film.
