Jason Bateman In Talks To Direct Ryan Reynolds-Led ‘Clue’ Remake

Coming off the heels of Sunday’s groundbreaking Emmy win for Best Directing in a Drama Series for Netflix’s Ozark, Jason Bateman is now in talks to direct a Ryan Reynolds-led Clue, a live-action remake of the popular Hasbro board game for Fox/Disney according to Deadline. The classic board game was given an adaptation in 1985 and has since gained a cult following, mainly for its faithfulness to the game iconography and cast performances, particularly Tim Curry’s.

Winning a Emmy for the Ozark episode “Reparations,” Bateman will pen the script for Clue alongside Reynolds, who will act as a producer through his Maximum Effort banner with the accompaniment of Hasbro’s film division Allspark Pictures. Reynolds recently inked a three-year producing deal earlier last year in light of his two Deadpool films and has one film left on his current contract. Fox/Disney also confirmed that Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick were assigned the task of working with Reynolds and Bateman on the Clue script.

Bateman is already rolling up his sleeves for season three of Ozark, as production commenced today. In addition to reprising his role as financial advisor Marty Byrde, the actor will direct two episodes of season three. The premise of Ozark revolves around Byrde and his family as they are pursued by a lethal cartel. The family transitions from Chicago to Missouri Ozarks in efforts to launder $500 million to appease their deal with the cartel.
