Jane Campion won the Academy Award for her critically acclaimed film The Power of the Dog, becoming the third woman in Oscar history to win Best Director. She follows Chloé Zhao’s win last year for her drama Nomadland. Only four women ever have been nominated for a directing Oscar, including Campion, Zhao, Emerald Fennell, and Debra Granik.

The Power of the Dog secured the most nominations for this year’s Oscars, but so far has only come out with one win with Campion’s Best Director.
