Halloween will have one final film, according to Universal, and most of the big players from the original series will be back. Jamie Lee Curtis, who played the original Laurie Strode in the original 1978 film, will be making her return as the recurring character in the final film, according to Variety. Curtis is well-known for her many roles across many genres and currently holds two Golden Globes to her name for her roles in Anything but Love and True Lies.
The final Halloween film will feature a final clash between Michael Myers and Strode, and according to John Carpenter, executive producer of the film and original director of the franchise, the film will be the scariest in the franchise. David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express, Prince Avalanche) will be directing with script co-written by Green and Danny McBride.
The film already boasts a strong producing team, including Green and McBride under Rough House Pictures; Malek Akkad, who is the son of original executive producer Moustapha Akkad, under Trancas International Films, and powerhouse Jason Blum under the Blumhouse Productions. Blumhouse is the production team behind many of the huge thrillers and horror films released in the past couple of years, including Get Out, Split, and The Purge.
