Together, James Mangold and Taylor Sheridan will adapt an English version of the film Disorder, according to Deadline. Released in 2015, the movie was originally filmed in French. Mangold will direct the script written by Sheridan. The film is being produced by Sony.
Known most recently for directing and creating the story for the critically well-received X-Men film, Logan, Mangold is fresh off recent hit. While Sheridan has also worked as an actor, his writing credits include Sicario and Hell or High Water.
The original French film was directed by Alice Wincour, who wrote the script in conjunction with Jean-Stéphan Bron. It starred Matthias Schoenaerts as Vincent, former soldier who now works security, and Diane Kruger as Jessie, the wife of a rich Lebanese businessman, whose dealings have put his family in danger, and who Vincent must protect. The film also includes Zaïd Errougui-Demonsant as Jessie’s son. From the plot to the visuals and cinematography, the original film is heavily influenced by Vincent’s combat-caused PTSD.
Described as a thriller with complex characters, the original film was met with extremely positive critical reception, making it nearly irresistible for a recreation. After Mangold and Sheridan’s established works, it looks like their remake is in skilled hands.
Sony hopes to cast the film and start production by the end of this year.
