The long-awaited first teaser trailer has dropped for DC Studio’s newest venture into the cinematic universe of the DC heroes. Being announced as a new reboot for the DC Cinematic Universe studios earlier in the year Gunn only hinted at the trailer dropping sometime later, and when later became soon, it came with a bang. The trailer highlights the stellar cinematography, effects, and cast in an action-packed montage sequence of what is sure to be a blockbuster for the records. While we will still be waiting on the reviews and preview numbers for a time it is already safe to say there will be people in theaters for this film as just after seven hours of posting the trailer it had 11 million views on YouTube.
The trailer also gave hints for what the plot may be that instead of an origin story it will simply be Superman being Superman, and who could ask for more. For the cast we only had months of one image of David Corenswet as The Man of Steel with the trailer showing us him finally going full Clark Kent to the physicality he will be bringing to the Superman man role. The iconic investigative reporter Louis Lane is played Rachel Brosnahan who shows us that the superlane relationship may already be established for the film. We also had Superdog confirmed for the film with the powered pup dragging Corenswet across the Arctic and the Fortress of Solituide rising up out of the ice.
With Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor we were only given hints at what the evil schemes the bald face of evil could be brewing and with Metamorpho played by Anthony Carrigan in his corner the inclusion of the Lanterns is sure to keep the stakes high.
The cast seen in the trailer is rounded out by Isabel Merced as Hawkgirl and Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific who are seen in the thick of the action hinting that the film may already be laying the groundwork for a Justice Lauge revival. Nathan Fillion also appeared as the Green Lantern Guy Gardner showing the Lantern Copr. will likely have a larger role in the story as a whole.
Superman will be premiering in theaters and Imax on July 11th.
