James Gunn’s New Horror Movie Releases This November

Although Disney may have fired James Gunn from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Gunn still has a couple of aces up his sleeve. Before the 2018 San Diego Comic-Con, Gunn revealed that a surprise horror movie announcement would be made at the panel. Unfortunately, Sony was forced to pull the preview at the last minute because of the Disney debacle. Assumingly this was done in the attempt to not hurt any chances of success for the film since Gunn’s name is attached to it.

With the waters starting to calm for Gunn, Sony recently publicized the official release date schedule. According to Screen Rant, Sony confirmed that Gunn’s secret horror project is scheduled to hit theaters on November 30, 2018. Although many outlets have inferred that this project is Gunn’s horror project, he is not likely the director. Earlier this year, it was announced that Gunn would be producing a horror film. Not only would he reunite with Slither’s Elizabeth Banks, but his long-time friend and collaborator, David Yarovesky, would be the director of the project. This secret film is the best candidate for the Sony release.

To further the mystery of this horror movie, it was rumored that the film is to be a horror adaption based on Sony’s PS4 video game, Bloodborne. This 2015 game is set in the Victorian Gothic period and the style was to some extent inspired by H.P. Lovecraft and Bram Stoker works. Since the announcement was pulled before any reports could be confirmed, audiences will have to continue to gossip until the movie is finally revealed.

Although pulling the preview at the San Diego Comic-Con may yet yield disappointing results because advertising for the movie has been hindered, hopefully Gunn’s new found publicity will help gain some public appeal.
