James Gunn Gives Update to ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ Script

James Gunn has been working on quite a few projects with major recent talk about his upcoming film for DC, The Suicide Squad. However, let’s not forget that Gunn is also still in charge of the original rag tag team of bounty hunters with The Guardians of the Galaxy. Gunn is still set to write and direct the third installment for the popular comic book film adaptation, even despite the initial controversy that occurred prior to production of Vol 3 or even The Suicide Squad. Gunn recently gave fans on update on the film’s production on his twitter account.

The comic book movie director started out by stating that he is starting his quarantine process for The Suicide Squad spin off known as Peacemaker. When Gunn mentioned this, fans asked about how much production has been done for the third installment of Star Lord and his team of misfits. To which Gunn responded that the script has been written and the production heads have been hired for the upcoming Marvel project. Fans also asked if much has changed from his original version of the script since Gunn started on it prior to getting kicked off of the project briefly due to older tweets being resurfaced. He stated that the script has not changed too drastically since its inception and added that, “I’m ALWAYS tweaking the script for artistic reasons – and will continue to do so – but nothing else.”

With the changes to the film’s script being more based around Gunn’s decisions, it will reassure his fans that Gunn still seems to have as much creative control on this film as he had with previous installments of the Guardians series.

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
