After several years of speculation, screen tests are said to begin this weekend for the role of James Bond. The exact date of the screen tests is still unknown. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it could be as early as this Friday, October 23, or sometime this weekend. The Hollywood Reporter also reported that two actors are reportedly screen-testing for the role. These include Callum Turner, known for recent rom-coms like Eternity and One Night Only, and Jack Lowden, known for his role on the Apple TV series Dark Horses and for his supporting role in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk.
Amazon MGM has yet to confirm any of these reports, and has only provided a statement they have provided previously:
The search for the next James Bond is underway. While we don’t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we’re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right.
These screen tests are for the next James Bond movie, set to be directed by Dune director Denis Villeneuve. Amy Pascal and David Heyman are producing the film, and have also been hired by Amazon MGM Studios to oversee the Bond franchise. Amazon MGM Studios previously gained full control of the franchise from longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson back in February of last year.
