Juan Antonio Bayona has officially been announced as the director for the sequel to the surprise mega hit of 2015, Jurassic World. The news was announced officially by the reboot’s director Colin Trevorrow and producer Frank Marshall via Twitter.
Proud to collaborate with one of my favorite filmmakers on the next Jurassic adventure. JA Bayona, it's all yours.

Bayona will pick up where Trevorrow left off as he is slated to direct the ninth installment of the overall franchise. Jurassic World grossed over 1.6 billion dollars under his watch, and was the highest grossing opening weekend for most of the year before Star Wars: The Force Awakens came and usurped that title. Trevorrow wrote the sequel with Derek Connolly and they’ve waited to get a good script before looking for a director, but all this is going to get moving soon for a complex picture dated June 22, 2018. World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are expected back for the sequel. Bayona is known for critical hits The Impossible and The Orphanage and is currently making A Monster Calls.
