Micheal Matthews, director of the 2020 rom-com Love And Monsters, teamed up with the cast of the film, which includes Dylan O’Brien and Jessica Henwick, to have a virtual interview with New York Comic Con, taking us behind the scenes. The friendly atmosphere and playful banter between the cast-members was an amazing display of chemistry that fans can only hope is appropriately translated onto the big screen.
The movie takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where monsters have taken control of the surface, pushing mankind to make a living underground. After seven years since this overthrow of power, the protagonist played by O’Brien manages to make contact with his high school girlfriend and, despite the obstacles in his way, he decides to risk it all to find her. In Dylan’s words, the movie portrays a “quest for love” that will have him encountering a wide array of characters and beautiful landscapes, as well as the occasional monster along the way. The actor of Maze Runner fame also took his time to express just how content he feels with his time on-set, claiming that he feels like it will be one of his “favorite experiences ever” where he got the notion that he was filming something along the lines of a “Pixar script live action.”
The interview also showcased some fragments of the movie that are designed to awe audiences with their absolutely stunning visuals. Love And Monsters is set to release on October 16 of this year and it will be interesting to see how this post-apocalyptic comedy fares in the world’s current climate.
