Stalkers have always been a commonality in film, but what happens when the stalking focuses on an application that many teens and adults use? Ingrid Goes West focuses on a young woman taking stalking to the next level, as seen in this trailer.
Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) plays the creepy Ingrid Thorburn, who moves to Los Angeles to stalk and become friends with an Instagram star named Taylor Sloane, played by Elizabeth Olsen (Captain America: Civil War, Godzilla). After becoming friends, however, their friendship begins taking a turn for the worse, and Ingrid discovers that this relationship was more than she bargained for.
Other important supporting characters include Ingrid’s “boyfriend” Dan Pinto, played by O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), and Taylor’s brother Nicky, played by Billy Magnussen (The Big Short, Bridge of Spies). The remaining cast is huge and filled with notable actors and actresses, including Pom Klementieff (Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, Old Boy), Wyatt Russell (22 Jump Street, Cowboys and Aliens), and Angelica Amor (Pimpkillah, Primer).
The film is being directed by Matt Spicer (It’s Not You It’s Me) and is written by Spicer and David Branson Smith, a newcomer in film writing. The film will be released on Netflix on August 11.
