IFC Midnight, known for distributing movies like The Human Centipede (2009) and The Babadook (2014), has picked up another horror flick to add to its stable. This time they’ve picked up The Hallow, a horror movie revolving around ancient evils known to roam the Irish countryside.
First time director Corin Hardy helmed this movie about a place deep in the Irish wilderness that houses ancient demonic forces that the superstitious nearby villagers well know to avoid. But all the ancient forces are released when a developer moves in with his wife and infant child and starts surveying the land for future development, unleashing those forces that had once been settled. The flick stars Joseph Mawle (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) and Bojana Novakovic (Drag Me To Hell) as the developer and his wife, along with Michael McElhatton (Albert Nobbs), Michael Smiley (Black Sea), Charlotte Williams (Maleficent), and Stephen Cromwell (From the Dark).
The movie was first screened at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival during the “Park City at Midnight” section of the festival. Despite now being picked up for U.S. distribution, there has been no release date announced.
