Warner Bros has set a September 3, 2021 release date for Lisa Joy’s sci-fi action-thriller which stars Hugh Jackman in the leading role. Reminiscence will release simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max in September as a part of Warner Bros’ decision to release their entire 2021 slate the same way. But first, the film will see an international release on August 25, 2021.
Jackman will star as Nick Bannister, a private investigator who helps his clients access lost memories. When he takes on a new client, Mae, played by Rebecca Ferguson, he uncovers a violent conspiracy that changes his life forever.
The cast also includes Thandie Newton, Cliff Curtis, Marine de Tavira, Daniel Wu, Mojean Aria, Brett Cullen, Natalie Martinez, Angela Sarafyan and Nico Parker. Joy, Jonathan Nolan (Chrisopher Nolan’s Brother), Michael De Luca and Aaron Ryder are producing.
Jackman most recent feature was the 2019 HBO biographical crime comedy Bad Education. The actor earned high praise from critics and audiences for his performance in the leading role.
The film will mark Joy’s feature-length directorial debut. She previously wrote multiple episodes for and directed an episode of HBO’s hit sci-fi action series, Westworld, which she worked on with Nolan.
