Warner Bros and New Line Cinema have released the red banner for the House Party remake which will feature the music director Helmer Calmatic, making his film directorial debut.
The original House Party follows the plot of a high schooler, played by Christopher, “Kid” Reid who stuck out to go to his friend’s (Christopher “Play” Martin) house party, which is followed by a crazy night of events. This original film was a box office hit and helped to bring Hip pop into mainstream media and was followed by three additional movies.
The script for the new House Party was written by Jamal Olori and Stephen Glover, from the Tv show Atlanta. The film will also be produced by James and Maverick Carter and Reginald Hudlin, Warrington Hudlin, Spencer Beighley, and Jamal Henderson.
The remake will follow upcoming club promoters working as house cleaners, best friends Damon, played by Tosin Cole, and Kevin played by Jacob Latimore. The film will also feature Karen Obliom, D.C Young Fly, and Scott Mescudi. The plot follows friends out of money and down luck, and at the last resort, they decided to through a party at the last house that they cleaned, which ended up being Lebron James’ house. Much like the original, the pair are met with a bunch of unlikely challenges and a long night filled with a bunch of celebrity cameos.
