Shudder, the streaming service solely dedicated to horror content including movies, TV shows, and documentaries, has voiced their support for the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests and the fight for racial justice in America.
The service, like many other mainstream platforms showing their support, has made a variety of its content created by people of color free to view, including the critically acclaimed documentary Horror Noir: A History of Black Horror. The documentary, like its title suggests, explores the history of African-Americans in horror, from the racial prejudices that were created in the genre to the explosion of horror movies created by African-American filmmakers. Not only is the company making some of its content available for free, but it’s also selling special merchandise and donating all the proceedings to Black Lives Matter, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, and the National Bail Fund Network.
Shudder is specifically selling an all black shirt with the company’s name on it to raise awareness, hoping to help the protesters and people of color disproportionally affected by disparities in the justice system. The shirt can be found and bought here on Shudder’s official Facebook page.
