With the red carpet rollout just taking place for The Mandalorian & Grogu, the clock is running down until fans can finally return to theaters for a new Star Wars movie. The film’s director, Jon Favreau, recently went into detail about his own desires for fans, discussing how he hopes fans are able to enjoy this new adventure.
Favreau has been on board with The Mandalorian since it was in its infancy, being a flagship title for Disney+. He wound up acting as the creator, showrunner, and primary writer for the show, staying on as a key creative mind behind all three seasons of the show. On top of helming the new movie, he’s also co-writing the script with Noah Kloor and Dave Filoni, the latter of which was recently named Chief Creative Officer at Lucasfilm.
Screenrant pointed out that the story of The Mandalorian is just a small chapter in the overall Star Wars legacy. With the entire saga spanning all the way back to 1977, the fandom has endured for years, with each generation of fans finding enjoyment in multiple different facets of the franchise. Although each generation has different preferences, Favreau stated that one of his aims with Mando & Grogu was to bring everyone together and craft something that all audiences could enjoy.
“They’re all having fun together, and I like it when Star Wars feels like that. It’s very easy to feel that way in person. It’s nice to try to bring everybody together with all the different stories,” Favreau told ScreenRant.
The Mandalorian & Grogu hits theaters this Friday.
