Hilary Swank and Michael Shannon Set To Star in ‘What We Had’

Hilary Swank and Michael Shannon are officially confirmed to star as siblings in independent film What We Had, with production for the film set to start next week in Chicago.

Elizabeth Chomko will be writing and directing the indie drama film. Chomko is making the jump to writer/director, after previously being known as an actress, who appeared in small roles on FX’s Terriers and CBS’ The Mentalist. The film is set to follow Swank’s character as she travels back home to take care of her mother who is suffering from Alzheimer’s, who feels responsible for monitoring her mother after an accident on Christmas Eve. Robert Forster, Blythe Danner, and Taissa Farmiga will also co-star.

Shannon was just nominated this year for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Nocturnal Animals. Look for him alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in historical drama The Current War, as well as the drama film State Like Sleep with Luke Evans and Katherine Waterston, and Guillermo del Toro’s period fantasy/drama The Shape of Water will Octavia Spencer.

Swank on the other hand, with two Oscars for Best Actress on her resume, has been keeping a low profile for the last few years. But expect to see her this year comedy Logan Lucky with Adam Driver, Daniel Craig, Channing Tatum, Katie Holmes, Sebastian Stan, and Katherine Waterston. She will also be in drama 55 Steps alongside Helena Bonham Carter and Jeffrey Tambor.
