Hayden Christensen is an actor most known for playing Anakin Skywalker, better known as Darth Vader. Christensen first played Vader in 2002 for the film Star Wars: Episode Ⅱ – Attack of the Clones. After that, in 2005 he returned in Star Wars: Episode Ⅲ – Revenge of the Sith. Years later in 2022 he appeared in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi which also starred Ewan McGregor.
Now Christensen is reprising the role for season 2 of another Disney+ series, this one titled Ahsoka. He confirmed this during the Star Wars celebration in Japan. He also revealed that Darth Vader is “a very complex character, and there’s a lot going on. But I’m really loving getting to sort of play the more heroic side of the character in the Ahsoka show, and I’m very excited for season 2.”
Movieweb noted Christensen did not limit the reprise to only the show but he also discussed the opportunity to continue with the character. He said “There’s a lot we could still explore with Vade. I think from where we left off, after Episode Ⅲ, and everything that he has to reconcile after he’s trapped in this new version of himself, there’s just a lot of very rich stories that we could still tell.” There is enough material based on the comics and due to the vast size of the Star Wars universe there are a lot of opportunities to include and even delve into Darth Vader.
There have been no confirmations of any other content including Christensen or Vader but the horror movie writer and director, Osgood Perkins expressed his interest in a Darth Vader oriented film. He said he would want to compile short stories of the villain into a feature film but he would want it to be different from any other movie or show associated with Star Wars.
Although nothing is definite it seems like a lot of creatives, including Darth Vader himself are open and interested in continuing Vader’s character.
