Harrison Ford Comments On Time It Took To Make ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’

Indiana Jones is back, and this time for his last adventure. Harrison Ford is donning the fedora and whip to bring the iconic character to the big screen in the final installment of the series, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. He hasn’t played Indy since 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulland at that point, the character’s future wasn’t planned out. Ford discusses in an interview with Digital Spy how the story for Dial of Destiny took a little while to generate land on one everyone appreciated.

“Well, it wasn’t as though we sat around for ten years waiting to come up with an idea,” Ford joked. “When we finished the last film, I don’t think anybody thought about going and doing another film for some time.”

Ford also added that there were some interesting concepts, but nothing that really stuck. “And then we found an idea, and a script, and a strong story that we wanted to tell,” Ford said. “We’re coming to the end of Indiana Jones’s time on the planet, and I wanted to see a conclusion of his story that accommodated the reality of his age, and what that effect has on this person that we’ve come to know over the years.”

While this is Ford’s last movie as Indy, it certainly won’t be his last film to star in. While on Who’s Talking To Chris Wallace?Ford said, “I don’t do well when I don’t have work. I love to work. I love to feel useful. It’s my Jones. I want to be helpful.” Marvel fans are also quick to remember that he’s taking over the role of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in Capitan America: Brave New Worldafter the passing of William Hurt.

In regards to Dial of Destiny, Ford added, “It is my hope that others find it as satisfying as I did.”

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny rolls into theaters on June 30th and stars Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Mads Mikkelsen.
