Harrison Ford and Phoebe Waller-Bridge tried to out-prank each other on the set of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Waller-Bridge tells Entertainment Weekly about the prank she did on Ford.
Waller-Bridge says that from the beginning of shooting, they had a lot of fun with each other. Although Ford has a fantastic work ethic and discipline, the foundation of the work is strong, so they could have more fun than usual.
One of the best pranks pulled was when Waller-Bridge hid in Ford’s trailer wearing a mask of his face, which was made specifically for stunt doubles. She said that it worked, and Ford expressed terror in his own way. “It scared the crap out of him, actually” Waller-Bridge laughed. “Even though that ‘actually’ is only represented by him blinking three times and saying, ‘Get the hell out of my trailer.”
Ford returned the favor 20 minutes later, wearing Waller-Bridge’s face mask and sneaking behind her. Ford even tied his shirt into a bow to match her character’s outfit. Although when Ford is asked about the pranks, he states, “I didn’t think of it as a ‘prank.’ But yes, I mean, we spent a lot of time fooling around.”
Waller-Bridge says that meeting Ford for the first time on set was like seeing an old friend again, even down to a single “Hi” via introduction. “And from that day on, we were fine. We read the script for about five minutes, and we all had a scotch for an hour. So, it was perfect.”
Waller-Bridge plays the goddaughter of Indiana Jones, Helena Shaw. Helena finds Indiana and works with him to find an ancient time-traveling device. However, they are not the only ones after the dial.
