After allegations of harassment have been leveled against him, an official comment from Jeremy Renner’s representatives has surfaced. The statement denounces the claims, explaining that they’re untrue.
Very recently, the Avengers alum was accused by Yi Zhou, a filmmaker specializing in documentaries. The accusations from Zhou emerged on Monday, after she published a string of posts detailing inappropriate behavior against her, allegedly by Renner.
Both Renner and Zhou had been working together on a documentary, but Zhou alleges that one meeting about the project didn’t turn out well. She had told DailyMail that, after consuming a bottle of wine, Renner allegedly became “violent” as she explained it, leading to her not feeling safe in his presence.
Going further, the allegations she posted stated that Renner had sent her “pornographic” images unprompted. The two had begun a romantic relationship after the fact, but Variety noted that it had since ended, with Zhou calling for a cancellation of Renner on the posts about the situation.
However, Renner’s representatives have discounted these allegations. Variety reached out directly, receiving the response of “the allegations being made are totally inaccurate and untrue.” They also attempted to get a comment from Renner’s lawyer, but were unsuccessful.
