‘Happy Death Day’ Gets Eerie Official Trailer

Tree Gelbman was just trying to have a nice birthday party. Towards the end of her birthday night, she is murdered and wakes up at the beginning of her birthday, remembering what happened the previous “night” but being completely fine. She continues to relive her day over and over again, being murdered by the same person every time. Happy Death Day looks to put a horror twist on the Groundhog Day formula with this new trailer.

Tree Gelbman, the main character, will be played by Jessica Rothe, who is known for playing Alexis in the award-winning La La Land, and will star alongside Israel Broussard (Jack of the Red Hearts) and Ruby Modine (Shameless). Broussard will be playing Carter Davis, a college student who looks to help Tree find out who her killer is. Modine plays Lori, a nurse who gives Tree a cupcake for her birthday in the trailer.

Happy Death Day is being directed by Christopher Landon, most known for his screenplays of Disturbia and every Paranormal Activity film after the first, and is being co-written by Landon and Scott Lobdell (X-Men: Days of Future Past). The film is being produced by Blumhouse, the current forerunners and producers of many modern horror films including Insidious, Sinister, and their newest hit Get Out. Happy Death Day will be creeping its way into theaters on October 13th.
