Comedian Hannibal Buress (TV’s Broad City) has been added to the growing cast of the new Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg comedy Daddy’s Home, according to an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter. This news comes a week after it was announced that Linda Cardellini (Grandma’s Boy) also joined the cast.
Buress will play a sarcastic handyman who is led to believe that the stepfather (Ferrell) to Mark Wahlberg’s children is racist. Ferrell plays a radio executive looking to become the best stepdad to his wife’s children, only to have their freeloading father (Wahlberg) come back into their lives. Horrible Bosses 2 directors Sean Anders and John Morris are directing the film. The film started shooting in New Orleans on Monday.
Buress has recently been making the transition from stand-up to film and TV. Along with being a featured cast member on Comedy Central’s Broad City, he played a cop in last summer’s comedy Neighbors, which starred Seth Rogen and Zac Efron.
Buress will also be seen in the upcoming comedies Flock of Dudes and Band of Robbers, the latter of which follows Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer as grown men in present day. He will also lend his voice to the Angry Birds movie.
