‘Hamilton’ Movie Trailer Released

The trailer for Hamilton, the feature film based off of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s ground-breaking, award-winning play of the same name, has officially dropped via Disney+, where the film will be exclusively released. The film is an up-close look at the performance itself, which stars Miranda in the titular role. It will give fans who have seen the play on Broadway the chance to relive the experience again while also allowing new viewers an opportunity to see it for the very first time.

The play documents the rise of Alexander Hamilton, the “ten dollar founding father without a father,” from an impoverished immigrant to one of the most prominent figures in United States history. It infuses hip-hop and rap into the storyline, drawing parallels between Hamilton and the hard-working, got-from-the-mud background of many of the genre’s biggest stars.

Hamilton will be released on July 3rd, and is directed by Thomas Kail, who directed the live productions of Hamilton as well as In the Heights, which was also written by and starring Miranda.

Hamilton first made waves on Broaday after it debuted in 2015. It firmly cemented Manuel Miranda as a visionary playwright and actor, elevating his career to the status of a modern theatrical icon.
