Collider reports that Universal released the final trailer for Halloween Kills, the sequel that begins during the aftermath of 2018’s Halloween in the town of Haddonfield. Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), her daughter Karen (Judy Greer), and her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) narrowly escaped Michael Myers in Halloween. But until now, we didn’t know that when the fire department shows up to put out the fire at Laurie’s safe house, they unknowingly set Myers free to wreak havoc once again.
From the trailer, there’s a clue that this sequel will return to the heart of the franchise: Myers’ childhood home, where he murdered his sister Judith one fateful Halloween night. A flashback scene also includes a small glimpse of someone who looks like Dr. Sam Loomis in his trademark trenchcoat (the late Donald Pleasence).
More featured stars are also returning as the same characters from the previous sequel. Anthony Michael Hall is the grown-up Tommy Doyle and Kyle Richards will reprise Lindsey Wallace from the 1978 film. Nancy Stevens is playing Marion Chambers again, former assistant to Dr. Loomis.
The success of 2018’s Halloween followed with the announcement of two sequels: Halloween Kills and the third film Halloween Ends, whose release date is planned for October 14, 2022. The entire series is directed by David Gordon Green. Both Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends are written by Green, Danny McBride, and Scott Teems.
Check out the final trailer for Halloween Kills below. It’s set to premiere in theaters and on Peacock on October 15.
