Gravitas Ventures has officially locked up the North American distribution rights to a Katie Holmes and Josh Lucas vehicle entitled The Secret: Dare to Dream and has partnered up with Roadside Attractions to release the film on April 17, 2020, according to Deadline.
The film will be directed by Sweet Home Alabama‘s own Andy Tennant and is loosely inspired by Rhonda Byrne’s 2006 New York Times best selling novel The Secret. The book was properly adapted by Bekah Brunstetter, Rick Parks, and Tennant, telling the story of a workaholic widow named Miranda Wells struggling to raise her family of three by herself. However, the arrival of a storm presents a catastrophic challenge to Miranda’s life, as well as a mysterious individual named Bray Johnson who, over the span of three days, alters the family’s spirit for the better with a shocking secret.
Outside of Holmes and Lucas, the film will feature Celia Weston and Jerry O’Connell in supporting roles. A production team consisting of Byrne, Robert Cort, Paul Hanson, Joe Gelchion, Matthew George, and Robert Katz will oversee the project. Lionsgate is expected to handle the other means of distribution for the film which includes home entertainment and television rights.
