News comes today that Steve Carell and director Gore Verbinski will join forces for an upcoming paranoid thriller from New Regency.
The upcoming film, as yet untitled, is looking toward a March production start, according to the report from Deadline. Verbinski will direct from a script by Steve Conrad, whose prior work includes the screenplay for 2013’s Ben Stiller starrer The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
Verbinski, looking to rebound from last year’s disappointing The Lone Ranger, is also attached to direct two more films for New Regency in quick succession after the thriller wraps: the horror film A Cure for Wellness and an action-comedy currently titled Passengers, the latter of which is also based on a script by Conrad.
Carell, whose wrestling drama Foxcatcher is scheduled to close the AFI Film Festival, also stars in the big screen Disney adaptation of the beloved children’s book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, hitting theaters this Friday.
