Goldie Hawn in Talks to Return to the Screen…Playing Amy Schumer’s Mother

Oscar winning icon Goldie Hawn appears to be in talks to make a return to the silver screen in a new comedy in which she would portray Amy Schumer‘s mother. If talks come to fruition, it would mark the first time the actress has appeared in a film since the 2002 comedy The Banger Sisters.

As of right now, the movie in question is still untitled but appears to focus on a mother-daughter relationship in the midst of a family vacation gone awry. Jonathan Levine (50/50The Wackness) will direct from script by Katie Dippold (The Heat, the upcoming all-female Ghostbusters); Schumer and her sister Kim Caramele also contributed to the script as serve as executive producers of the comedy. The film is in development at Fox.

Hawn, who won an Academy Award for her bubbly turn in the 1969 comedy Cactus Flower, has appeared in such memorable films as The Sugarland ExpressShampooPrivate Benjamin and The First Wives Club. Schumer, a breakout in the past few years thanks to the success of her Emmy winning Comedy Central sketch series Inside Amy Schumer and critical and commercial appear of the film Trainwreck, may make for an ideal sparring partner for the veteran comedic star. The film is expected to arrive in theaters on May 12, 2017.

We will stay tuned to future developments.
