Giovanni Ribisi Joins Cast Of MLK Biopic ‘Selma’

Giovanni Ribisi in 2013’s ‘Gangster Squad’

MLK biopic Selma has just added a new cast member. Giovanni Ribisi will be joining the cast, set to play famed Civil Rights presidential advisor Lee C. White, as reported by Variety.

Centered on the Selma Civil Rights marches that changed America, Lee C. White was an critical advisor to Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson on their strategies concerning the Civil Rights movement. Ribisi joins a loaded cast, including Tom Wilkinson as President Lyndon Johnson, David Oyelowo as Martin Luther King, Jr., Tim Roth as George Wallace, and Cuba Gooding, Jr. as Fred Gray.

Ribisi has made a career as a go-to supporting character actor.  It’s not always  an easy thing to remember which movies he’s appeared in, but you’ve probably have watched a film without realizing he was there. He does have impressive resume with the just released Seth MacFarlane comedy A Million Ways To Die In The West, 2013’s Gangster Squad alongside Sean Penn and Josh Brolin, and 2012’s Contraband with Mark Wahlberg and many more.

No doubt, Ribisi will ‘become’ Lee C. White without much trouble. And, it doesn’t hurt that – as you can see in the picture above – he dresses up quite well as a 1960s man.

Ribisi’s next appearance will be in Justin Reardon’s A Many Splintered Things alongside Chris Evans and Michelle Monaghan due out later this year.
