Gia Coppola’s ‘Mainstream’ to Star Andrew Garfield, Nat Wolff, Jason Schwartzman

The Coppola family reign is continuing onscreen with Gia Coppola’s return to cinema with her next film Mainstream, starring Academy Award nominee Andrew Garfield, Paper Towns star Nat Wolff, and actor-musician Jason Schwartzman.

The film follows a love triangle that becomes entangled in the complex world of social media and identity. Coppola wrote the script alongside Tom Stuart and is also directing. La La Land producer Fred Berger will produce with Robert Schwartzman, Holly Wiersma, and American Zoetrope as executive producers, according to Deadline.

Coppola’s previous film, Palo Alto, marked her directorial debut and also featured actor Nat Wolff in the main cast. This film will mark a celebratory reunion for the two as production will soon go underway towards the end of this year. Coppola is the granddaughter of Academy Award-winning director Francis Ford Coppola, who rose to fame with the exceptional reception of his 1972 film The Godfather.

Andrew Garfield is a Tony Award-winning British actor who previously portrayed Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man franchise. He was also nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in Hacksaw Ridge. Jason Schwartzman is popular for his frequent collaborations with Wes Anderson, including The Grand Budapest Hotel and Isle of Dogs. Nat Wolff became a media sensation through his roles in John Green’s novel-turned-films of The Fault In Our Stars and Paper Towns.

The film has no set release date and is currently still in the pre-production stage, although it is scheduled to begin production sometime in late December.
