Don’t let the innocent-sounding title fool you, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse is anything but a kiddie gloves approach to the zombie genre. The new red band trailer amps up the gore and takes every opportunity to push the limits.
The horror comedy follows three friends and scouts who, on their last night of camping, return to save their town from a sudden zombie outbreak. It combines the teen comedy with zombie horror looking a little bit like Superbad and a little bit like Zombieland. Either way, audiences will see its star Tye Sheridan (Mud) in a starkly different role from his dark indie films in the past.
The film also stars Halston Sage (Paper Towns), Logan Miller (Night Moves), Patrick Schwarzenegger (Stuck in Love), David Koechner (The Anchorman), and newcomer Joey Morgan.
Disturbia writer Christopher Landon directed and co-wrote the film with Lona Williams (Drop Dead Gorgeous) as well as Carrie Lee Wilson and Emi Mochizuki.
Paramount is releasing Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse on October 30th, and on VOD and DVD 17 days after it leaves theaters.
