George Lucas Reflects On Different Creative Process For ‘Star Wars’ Projects

Star Wars: Episode I- Phantom Menace just turned 25, and saw a very successful theatrical re-release. With the anniversary of the first installment of his prequel trilogy, George Lucas was given the chance to reflect on Star Wars after Disney bought it.

Gorge Lucas was the creative mind responsible for Star Wars. He directed the first film in 1977 and stayed on as a producer for Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi, while also writing Jedi.

Lucas helmed American Graffiti and came up with the character of Indiana Jones, for which he served as a producer on the series. He also directed the prequel trilogy before finalizing a deal with Disney to acquire Lucasfilm for $4 billion.

Once Disney started producing films and TV shows for Star Wars, Lucas provided ideas for the sequel trilogy, but the direction was not taken.

As ComicBook.com reported, Lucas reflected on the creative process and gave his thoughts on certain aspects that Disney employed. He said, “They started other ones after I sold the company, a lot of the ideas that were in [the original] sort of got lost. But that’s the way it is. You give it up, you give it up.”

Lucas’ comments on the process at Cannes, initially reported by Hollywood Reporter, also included how he felt the Force started to be misconstrued from his original thoughts.
