Netflix is gearing up for two-time Oscar winner George Clooney to direct and star in an adaptation of Lily Brooks-Dalton’s 2016 novel ‘Good Morning, Midnight.’ According to Deadline, Clooney and frequent collaborator Grant Heslov will be producing under their Smokehouse Pictures label, with Anonymous Content and Syndicate Entertainment sourcing the material. Production is eyed for October of 2019.
Set in a post-apocalyptic setting, Good Morning, Midnight follows the tales of a solitary scientist in the Arctic named Augustine and his efforts to make contact with the personnel of the Aether spacecraft as it attempts to return to Earth.
Smokehouse has a full plate from now until 2020. The company, founded by Clooney and Heslov in 2006, is currently producing a six-part limited series on Hulu titled Catch-22 which is based on Joseph Heller’s World War II novel. Clooney and Heslov’s affiliation with the series involves serving as executive producers and even directed a couple of episodes for.
