Geoffrey Rush (The King’s Speech, Shakespeare in Love) is set to star as Swiss painter and sculptor Alberto Giacometti in Final Portrait, a movie written and to be directed by Stanley Tucci, according to Deadline. Based on the book A Giacometti Portrait by American art critic James Lord, the film will recount the marathon portrait session that tested the friendship of Giacometti and Lord and resulted in what is considered to be one of the artist’s last masterpieces.
Though mostly known for his performances in films such as The Lovely Bones and The Hunger Games, Tucci has also directed number of feature films, including Big Night (1996) and Blind Date (2007). Rush was most recently seen in The Book Thief (2013) and won an Academy Award for his breakout performance in Shine (1996).
