The role of George Martin, the Beatles’ band manager, has been cast in The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, a four-film series of Beatles biopics all set to be directed by Sam Mendes, each from one of the Beatles’ perspectives. The role of George Martin will be played by British actor Harry Lloyd, known for playing Daenerys Targaryen’s older brother, Viserys Targaryen, in season 1 of Game of Thrones.
The casting was announced by George Martin’s son, Giles Martin, on a recent episode of The Ryan Tubridy Show, a radio talk show hosted by Ryan Tubridy on Virgin Radio UK. “My dad — I’m not sure if that’s been announced — my dad is very good, he’s a guy called Harry Lloyd”, Giles Martin said about the casting, while also praising Lloyd’s performance, saying, “He’s really good.”
This casting follows the recent casting of Yoko Ono and Pattie Boyd, who will be played by Anna Sawai and Aimee Lou Wood, respectively, back in October. The casting of the four Beatles is Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr. The announcement was made during Sony’s panel at CinemaCon 2025. Other members of the cast for all four films include Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, Mia McKenna-Bruce as Maureen Starkey Tigrett and James Norton as Brian Epstein.
While The Beatles – A Four Film Cinematic Event does not currently have an official release date, Sony Pictures has them currently slated for April 2028.
