After their apparent success with the Sonic the Hedgehog movie earlier this year, the video game company Sega is now looking at adapting some of their other video game franchises into feature films.
According to Variety and Polygon, Sega is planning on developing a live action movie based on their second best selling video game franchise, Yakuza. As the title suggest the Yakuza series is about the Japanese crime syndicate, yakuza. The first game was released in 2005 and follows the story of the a yakuza member of the Tojo Clan named Kazuma Kiryu. At the start of the game Kiryu is released from jail after serving a 10 year sentence for a crime he did not commit. Once free Kiryu learns that 10 billion yen was stolen from his former gang and Kiryu decides to search for the missing money. There are now 8 games in the Yakuza series and several spinoffs too. Later games in the series focus on different playable characters other than Kiryu.
Sega is working with Wild Sheep Content and 1212 Entertainment to develop this film. As of right now Sega is searching for a writer to write a script for the movie. Not much is known about the Yakuza movie right now except that the movie will be about the character Kazuma Kiryu.
