‘Gambit’ Loses Third Director Gore Verbinski and Pushes Back Release

According to the Hollywood ReporterFox is in search of yet another director for the X-Men spinoff, Gambit, since Gore Verbinski’s (A Cure for Wellness) exit. As of now, there is no known reason for his departure.

Already, the film has run through multiple directors: Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) signed on in 2015 and was followed by Doug Liman (Edge of TomorrowSwingers) who was chosen as a replacement for Wyatt in August 2016. As the third director, Verbinski became a part of the production in 2017.

The film will still star Channing Tatum, who has been driven to create this film for quite some time. He will be the second person to portray Gambit on the big screen, the first being Taylor Kitsch in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Lizzy Caplan (Mean Girls, Now You See Me 2) will join Tatum in the film.

Tatum will also produce the movie along with Lauren Shuler Donner, Reid Carolin, and Simon Kinberg. Josh Zetumer (RobocopPatriots Day) has already penned the film.

Sadly for fans, there will be a delay in bringing the film to the big screen, as Fox has also changed Gambit’s appearance in theaters from February 14, 2019 to June 7, 2019.
