On a recent appearance on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Gal Gadot discussed her exit from the role of Wonder Woman. Gadot began by saying the transition from the DCEU to James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe was “not handled elegantly, to say the least.”
She then discussed how she left the role. According to Gadot, neither James Gunn nor Peter Safran ever approached her to tell her personally about her exit. Here’s what she had to say:
“They were like, ‘We’re going to develop it with you, the third one.’ But I saw the way everybody else was handled, right? And I, you know — the Henry situation was unfortunate. I was in the middle of that. The Henry situation was not handled elegantly, to say the least.”
She then continued, saying
“Same with [Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins] — it was not handled elegantly. I feel like we’re all adults and it’s all good. It’s not even about them. They are there, and they’re there to do what they believe in, and it’s all good.”
Gadot is still the most recent actress to portray Wonder Woman in live action, and the actress who will play the role in the DCU has yet to be officially announced. However, Man of Tomorrow features Adri Ajourna playing a mysterious, unconfirmed role that many have speculated could be Wonder Woman. Whether that speculation proves true remains to be seen, as the film will be released on July 9th, 2027.
