Ever since mankind looked up at the stars, the dream has always been to travel to space. Astronauts have traveled to the moon and back, and some live out on space stations. What if a film studio were to be built in space?
Studios have created the special effects of space in their past films. George Lucas simulated the effects of hyperspace in Star Wars. Audiences were able to witness epic dog fights and explosions through visual effects.
Obviously, there won’t be an actual space battle. Space Entertainment Enterprise plans to launch a space set studio in 2024. There is a space race going between America and Russia for the second time in over 60 years after Russia beat America into space with the launch of Sputnik. For the second time, Russia claims victory in the race to produce the first feature film. They’ve beaten Tom Cruise’s next film The Challenge which is set to be filmed in space.
According to Slashfilm that held an interview with SEE co-founders, Elena and Dmitry Lesnevsky gave their statement: “SEE-1 is an incredible opportunity for humanity to move into a different realm and start an exciting new chapter in space. It will provide a unique, and accessible home for boundless entertainment possibilities in a venue packed with innovative infrastructure which will unleash a new world of creativity. With worldwide leader Axiom Space building this cutting-edge, revolutionary facility, SEE-1 will provide not only the first, but also the supreme quality space structure enabling the expansion of the two trillion-dollar global entertainment industry into low-Earth orbit.”
