The official, full-length trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story has finally been released from captivity. The new trailer, which some may describe as the ‘good one,’ provides a more flattering glimpse of Alden Ehrenreich’s portrayal of Han Solo, proves that Donald Glover can do no wrong, provides a glimpse of our villain (Paul Bettany), and gives some weighty lines for Woody Harrelson to chew on and spit out.
Solo: A Star Wars Story takes place approximately 12 years before Star Wars: A New Hope. The story follows a young(er) Han Solo, played by Alden Ehrenreich (rather than going with an eerily lifelike computer-generated Harrison Ford). Han will meet his trusty lifemate Chewbacca, encounter the impossibly smooth Lando Calrissian (Glover), court the Millennium Falcon, and get involved in the seedy Star Wars criminal underworld.
Watch the trailer below! *Please don’t make the same mistake that I did and assume that this is the long-awaited sequel to Mario Van Peebles’ 1996 masterpiece, Solo.
What do you think? Maybe Chewie dies and the lovable fuzzball who we all grew up with is an imposter? Lawrence Kasdan does love a good plot twist!
Solo: A Star Wars Story, which should have been released on May the 4th if Disney’s marketing team were on the ball, hits theaters on May 25th.
