Frozen Short Film Set For Release In October 2026

According to Screenrant, Frozen short film will be released in October to hold fans over before the franchise’s third film in 2027. The news was revealed by the executive Vice President of Global Brand Commercialization at Disney Consumer Products, Paul Glitter, in an interview with License Global

Alongside the announcement of the short film, Disney anticipates extending their merchandising of the Frozen brand. A Pandora jewelry collaboration was deemed as Disney’s “biggest ever cross-company movie marketing campaign.” 

Glitter stated the following in the License Global interview: “We’re excited to kick off the countdown to Frozen 3 with a new short this October, ahead of one of our biggest ever-cross-company movie marketing campaigns in 2027.” 

Other recent content from the world of Frozen was the LEGO Disney Frozen: Operation Puffs special that was released on Disney+, per Screenrant. Frozen 3 is anticipated to hit theaters on November 24, 2027. 

Frozen took inspiration from The Snow Queen film and Han’s Christian Anderson story, as stated by Screenrant. Fans will recall the film focusing on the relationship between Elsa and Anna as Elsa struggles with her ice powers, shielding Anna from seeing that side of her. The secret is revealed through Elsa’s coronation that hinders the rest of the plot as Arandell is covered in snow during the summer. The initial film accumulated $1.28 billion dollars at the global box office against a budget of $150 million.

Despite the massive return for Disney, Frozen 2 took six years to premiere. The sequel focused on the origin story behind Elsa’s powers and the sisters learning more about their parents. Screenrant has the final box office results were $1 billion against the same budget as the first installment. The film also holds a 77% Rotten Tomatoes score, with the first film sitting at 89%. 

Screenrant highlighted some other Frozen productions, including: LEGO Disney Frozen: Operation Puffs, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, Frozen Fever, Once Upon A Snowman, Olaf Presents and Myth: A Frozen TaleFrozen stars Indina Menzel (Wicked, Glee) as Elsa, Kristen Bell (The Good Place. Nobody Wants This) as Anna, Jonathan Groff (Glee, Hamilton) as Kristoff, Santino Fontana (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Off the Menu) as Hans, and Josh Gad (Beauty and the Beast, Pixels) as Olaf.
