Fred Armisen Will Join in on the Laughs for ‘Zoolander 2’

SNL alum and Portlandia creator Fred Armisen is the latest actor to be added to the cast of Zoolander 2. The move was announced by Armisen via his Instagram account, with video showing him packing for the film’s set in Rome and not forgetting to include some American iced coffees for the film’s stars Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson.

This news comes on the heels of Stiller’s announcement at CinemaCon that the Zoolander sequel will be “a giant bomb… filled with money.” With so many fans of the original film, this goes without saying; however, with the return of Billy Zane – also announced yesterday – and the new additions of Armisen, fellow former SNL comedienne Kristen Wiig, Penelope Cruz (Vicky Christina Barcelona), and the multi-platform super-couple Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West, the supermodel film will be firing on all cylinders.

Stiller will again be directing the comedy from a script written by actor-writer Justin Theroux (he wrote Tropic Thunder and stars in the HBO series The Leftovers). Zoolander 2 will hit theaters February 12, 2016.

Until then, Armisen will be appearing in the indie comedy Fresno with Judy Greer (The Descendants) and Natasha Lyonne (Netflix’s Orange is the New Black) and in the Portlandia-esque “life after rock” dramedy Geezer.
