Frank Grillo (Zero Dark Thirty, Warrior) has had a good couple of weeks. He’s just been cast in two upcoming features: A Conspiracy On Jekyll Island, with Minnie Driver (Good Will Hunting) co-starring, and Big Sky alongside Bella Thorne (Wizards of Waverly Place) and Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer).
A Conspiracy On Jekyll Island isn’t a horror film, but rather an action-thriller referencing the secret meetings in the early 1900’s on the Georgian getaway of Jekyll Island, where Wall Street banking leaders and U.S. Senators allegedly met to form a new banking system that would be under the direct control of the New York banking elite – The Federal Reserve. Fast forward to present day when an ex-Wall Streeter (Frank Grillo) is contacted by the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury to thwart a cyber-attack that is threatening to bring down the U.S. economy. He gathers together some of his character-infused cronies to save the world from a financial implosion. Minnie Driver plays his wife, while Dianna Agron (Glee, The Family), Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl), John Leguizamo (Ice Age series), and Maggie Q (TV’s Nikita) also star.
A Conspiracy on Jekyll Island is being produced by Hilary Shor, producer of Lee Daniels’ The Butler, and directed by Aram Rappaport. Shor and Rappaport created the idea and wrote the script together.
Frank Grillo is currently shooting Big Sky, the English language debut of director Jorge Michel Grau (We Are What We Are) from a script by Evan M. Weiner (Monogamy). Big Sky is a thriller about a young woman (Bella Thorne from Shake It Up) who is afraid of wide-open spaces and never leaves her bedroom (agoraphobia). He mother, played by Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer), decides to take her to a medical facility in the desert for treatment, but instead they are intercepted by two sinister brothers (Frank Grillo and Aaron Tveit from Les Miserables) who have different plans for the duo. Mathew Salloway, Manis, and Christina Papagjika are producing.
A Conspiracy On Jekyll Island has no production beginning date as of yet. Look for Big Sky to debut in 2014.
