Bryan Singer‘s X-Men: Apocalypse will be the third entry of the prequel trilogy of the mutant franchise, beginning with X-Men: First Class, then Days of Future Past. Singer helmed the second film as well, which went back and forth between the 1970s and an apocalyptic future. The latest entry revolves around the creature known as Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), who believes he can create an entirely new world where only the best and strongest mutants survive. Even though he is the figurehead of the story, the bulk of it mostly centers around the Four Horsemen who follow him, all of whom have the ability to appear in various points in history.
There has already been some spectacular footage and images released, but 20th Century Fox has just unveiled four new posters that feature the Four Horsemen: Angel (Ben Hardy), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), and Psylocke (Olivia Munn). Sequentially following the previous entry, Apocalypse is set in the 1980s, with at least some sections taking place in Cairo. Along with the Horsemen, a star-studded cast joins them; Jennifer Lawrence, Rose Byrne, Sophie Turner, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, and Kodi Smit-McPhee are also a part of the time-traveling storyline.
This film looks to be the most ambitious yet for the franchise and by what we have seen so far, not to mention Singer’s signature stamp on many of its past entries, this seems like it could be an epic tale. The new posters are beautifully done, showing the very intricate and creative designs of the Horsemen. Each member has their own specialized skills that Apocalypse utilizes, but the posters also show their personality traits that give them motivation to enlist in the villain’s plan. Check out the character posters below.
X-Men: Apocalypse opens on May 27th.
