Former Lois Lane Actress Amy Adams Voices Support For New ‘Superman’ Star Rachel Brosnahan

With a new take on Superman just on the horizon, so too comes a new spin on the character of Lois Lane. And while the torch has been passed from one actress to another, the most recent talent to portray the Daily Planet reporter has given her blessing to the newly-cast actress.

The DCEU saw Amy Adams take up the role in 2013’s Man Of Steel, alongside Henry Cavill as Superman. She would return to play the character in Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, Justice League, and then would later appear in Zack Snyder’s version of Justice League, which was released in 2021.

As ScreenRant notes, the role of Lane is being taken over by Rachel Brosnahan in the upcoming James Gunn film, Superman. Brosnahan is joined by David Corenswet, taking up the suit as Superman, alongside Nicholas Hoult as arch rival Lex Luthor.

Skyler Gisondo, Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, and Nathan Fillion round out the supporting cast for the film.

In a talk with Variety, the former actress spoke about Brosnahan taking up the role, saying that she thinks Brosnahan will be a good fit for the part.

“Hopefully the role will be infused with her sensibility and her natural humor and strength and wit,” she said.

Superman hits theaters July 11th, 2025.
